Ultrasound -Your Important Next Step

Having an ultrasound is an important next step if you have had a positive pregnancy test at LIFEBRIDGE. A referral will be made for you to receive a FREE limited ultrasound at one of our referring medical clinics.

An ultrasound is a simple and painless procedure that uses sound waves transmitted into your belly to get a picture of your pregnancy.

An ultrasound is important to verify your pregnancy, determine whether the fetus is located in the uterus and whether the embryo/fetus is lodged outside of the uterus, which can be fatal. Another reason to have an ultrasound is to confirm your stage of pregnancy which may determine the type of abortion method that may be used.

Will I Have A Natural Miscarriage?

An ultrasound will determine if your pregnancy is viable (healthy) or at risk for a natural miscarriage. As many as 20% of all pregnancies will naturally miscarry – avoiding the need for an abortion.

Do I Have An Ectopic Pregnancy?

An ultrasound will determine if your pregnancy is safe. If the fertilized egg is in the fallopian tubes (meaning it is an ectopic pregnancy) you will need to seek emergency medical attention.

How Far Along Am I?

If you’re wondering when you might have gotten pregnant or can’t remember when your last period was, an ultrasound will give an accurate measurement of the age of your pregnancy
